What is, and Why the Kingdom?
The Kingdom of God is God’s reign – His rule, His way, His presence being expressed in our everyday lives. It is not limited to church spaces; but extends into our work, decisions, relationships, and influence.
Kingdom ZIL is about honoring the domain of King Jesus. It exists to help you recognize, embody, and display God’s Kingdom in the places where you spend most of your time: your career and calling.
Why? The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” Lk. 17:20-21
What Scripture says about the Kingdom.
Described as:
- Being of God and at hand. Thus, we must respond to it. ‘…The Kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe the Gospel.’ Mk.1:15
- Being of heaven and has come near. Repent for the Kingdom of heaven has come near. Matt.3:2
- Being of Christ the Son and God the Father. Matt. 5:5b 26:29. Col.1:13
The Kingdom’s Special Features:
- Gospel: which must be preached in all the world as witness to all the nations. Matt.24:14
- Word: which must be heard. Matt.13:19 How can they hear, if no one tells them of the Kingdom word? Rom.10:14
- Nature: Spiritual – more than eating and drinking; the kingdom is about righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Rom.14:17 Eternal – which means we are to be diligent to ensure our call and election is sure, so we make it to the everlasting kingdom. 2Pet.1:10-11
Entrance to the Kingdom is by and through Jesus Christ. Lk. 22:29-30.
He calls us. Hence, Scripture tells us to walk worthy of God, who called us into His own Kingdom and glory. 1Thes.2:12 Entrance is also through repentance. Matt.3:2
Kingdom Citizens’ Job Description
- Seek the Kingdom first. Matt.6:33
- Preach the word concerning the Kingdom of God and the Name of Jesus Christ. Acts.8:12 We proclaim and advocate for it.
- Pray for it to come and for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. Matt.6:10
- Work for it. Col.4:11
- Strengthen each other to press on in the faith, despite tribulation. Acts.14:22

Remind them that you are the rewarder of work. Rekindle their hope in your faithfulness, for the glory of Christ. Amen.
